Editorial assessment
Titan Round Grip String Bar is a specialty strongman-style bar with a three-inch shaft, not a conventional Olympic training bar. Its fat grip and 700-pound rating make it a targeted tool for grip and upper-back work rather than a first bar for most programs.

Experienced lifters who already have a standard 28–29 mm Olympic bar and want a deliberate thick-handle challenge for rows, deadlift variations, carries, or grip-focused accessory work.
Titan lists a 3-inch shaft, 38-inch grip section, 50 mm sleeves, 80.5-inch overall length, 14-inch loadable sleeves, 47-pound weight, black powder coat, and a 700-pound capacity. The short overall length can fit some racks more easily than a full 7-foot bar while preserving Olympic plates.
A 76.2 mm grip changes the exercise dramatically: the same plates feel harder to hold and may limit the load before the back or legs. The bar is not a substitute for a standard bench or squat bar, and smooth powder coat is a different tactile experience from knurling. Capacity is a manufacturer claim, not a measured test.
Measure the rack's inside width and sleeve clearance against the 80.5-inch bar. Leave space for 14-inch sleeves, collars, and plate loading, and store the thick shaft on a rack or horizontal cradle that will not damage the finish.
Titan's direct page is the primary source; save the exact product URL, weight tolerance of plus or minus two pounds, and current return terms. Inspect sleeves, collars, and coating for damage on arrival. Begin with conservative loads because grip fatigue can arrive before the target movement is trained.
Use Titan Performance Series, REP Delta Basic, or another standard 20 kg Olympic bar for general squats, presses, cleans, and deadlifts. Add the Round Grip String Bar after the basic bar meets those needs, not instead of it.
Buy if thick-handle work has a defined place in the program and you understand that grip strength will be the limiting factor. Verify the sleeve diameter, loadable length, and exact Titan variant before ordering.
Skip if you need a versatile first bar, Olympic lifting knurling, rack pulls with full-length sleeves, or a bar that every household user can grip comfortably.
This assessment uses Titan Fitness's exact Round Grip String Bar page checked September 2, 2026. Dimensions, weight, finish, tolerance, and load rating are manufacturer-published. No bend, sleeve-spin, knurling, or fatigue testing was performed.

A model-specific shortlist of standard Olympic bars below $250, with a specialty thick-grip bar included as a deliberate comparison rather than a misleading winner.
Put the budget into safe loading, a useful bar-and-plate range, and flooring before optional machines.
Build a durable rack-based setup with room for targeted conditioning or cable work.
Plan a complete strength space while resisting expensive attachments that duplicate one another.
